WHAT TO EXPECT

Our initial meeting will be online, in person or by phone, free of charge and 30 minutes. This session will be different from a usual therapy session, as it’s an information gathering and sharing exchange. This first session allows me to find out more about you and what brings you to therapy at this time in your life. It provides you with the opportunity to meet me and decide whether you think I might be the right person for you. It’s also an opportunity for you to find out more about me, the way I work and the counselling process. You can also ask me any questions that you may have.

After the initial meeting there is no obligation to continue. It might be helpful to take a moment to think about it, or you might want to book another session straight away. The choice is yours. If you do choose to work with me, we will meet weekly on an open-ended basis, giving you the control over how long you’d like to be in therapy for. It can be helpful to review our work after six weeks; it’s a good time to see if you are noticing the benefits of the sessions, and we can discuss the direction to go forward.

APPROACH/HOW I WORK

Lucy with daffs

I understand how difficult it can be to reach out for help. I will provide a warm, welcoming, confidential and safe space for you to explore what is on your mind and troubling you. We will work together to help you gain a deeper understanding of yourself and explore your thoughts, feelings and desires.

Psychodynamic therapy is a collaborative process where we will explore together what’s on your mind, allowing you to gain insight into your unconscious thoughts, leading to greater understanding of yourself and what you want to get out of life. I hope that our work together will allow you to make sense of your current situation.

Psychodynamic refers to the psyche/mind, and its interaction with our internal thoughts, desires and external influences. By thinking about memories that might be associated with present experiences, we can build up a picture together of the way that the past and present link in a powerful way and how they affect our present thoughts, feelings, fears, desires, and above all, our relationships. We might notice patterns in our behaviours and gain some control over them to help us feel more comfortable as we are today. I will be alongside you to support you on your journey; together we can start to make sense of what is going on for you in the here and now.

I offer both in person and online sessions. I am based in Uckfield; in person sessions take place in a purpose built bright and airy garden room.

Sessions are offered on a weekly basis for 50 minutes and cost £50. I accept payments by bank transfer or cash.
